Robert Anderson is a Denver, Colorado- and New York-based photographer with more than thirty years of photographic experience. Robert's photography initially "focused" on landscapes of the western United States. Over a period of a few years, night-time cityscapes throughout the United States, especially from Denver, New York City, Seattle, San Francisco, Miami, Philadelphia and Chicago became the primary target of Robert's camera. Presently, Robert has come to realize that he is a photographic generalist, attracted to documenting whatever he sees around him. This might be anything after dark, the streets and alleys of New York, small town America/Americana, boxcars, graffiti, signs, street art, contents of store shelves and windows, events and almost everything in between. Robert takes special pleasure from the black and white images of Gordon Parks and Walker Evans from the 1930's-40s and of Robert Frank from the 1950's. The color street images of Helen Levitt from the 1980's as well as the contemporary color images of William Eggleston are especially inspirational .
Robert has had the privilege of participating in several one-person and group photographic exhibitions, published a modest book of after dark images accompanied by essays, been invited to participate in some of the nation's most competitive juried arts festivals and has won Best-in-Show in national and international juried photographic competitions. At present, Robert Anderson is out with his cameras at least two days per week and his cameras are always nearby.
